A middle-grade adventure
for the entire family!

Blowing off homework assignments, being harassed by the school bully, and barely surviving a biking accident brought on by a pack of wild dogs, 12-year-old Alex, recuperating at home, forms a close relationship with Mr. D, the new school counselor, and working on a homework assignment becomes interested in bugs—nutritious edible bugs.

Environmentally friendly and nutritionally sound,
The Boy Whose Idea Could Feed the World

holds the secret to wipe out hunger and feed every human on this planet.

“Whether a middle-grader curled up reading on the sofa, a parent or grandparent reading to their children, an adult learning the secrets of motivation or a teacher and her students embarking on a science project that chirps and wiggles,
The Boy Whose Idea Could Feed the World

has something to offer everyone!”

Welcome!

My name is Doris Wild Helmering. I’m a marriage and family counselor in St. Louis in private practice. I’ve written eight relationship books, 1,200 newspaper columns, numerous e-booklets, appeared on Oprah three times, had my own segment on television, my own radio show, consulted for a number of fortune five-hundred companies, and have logged over 51,000 hours doing individual, marital, and group therapy. Yikes! As you can see, a lot of my life has been dedicated to helping people set goals, solve problems, and have healthier and happier lives.

So get comfortable, look around, and consider this web page your personal guide to helping you solve those everyday problems whether in your relationship, with kids, on the job, with your weight or other addictive behaviors. Helpful advice is posted every other Wednesday on my Doris Wild Helmering blog
"The Neighborhood Counselor".
